BIOGRAPHY

Phil Wale aka Mobi-D started learning to DJ back in 1996 on a set of Pro 180’s, before scraping together enough money to get himself a pair of 1210’s. Once he taught himself how to mix properly, he decided to start a hard house night just outside Cambridge called Immersed.

The monthly Friday night gig went on to become one of the biggest hard house nights in Cambridge and surrounding areas. Immersed gave Phil the opportunity to book some top DJ’s from around the country and in turn, gave him a route into sets down in London.

The turning point in Mobi’s career came when he started writing his own style of bouncy hard house and got two tracks signed to the mighty 12inch Thumpers. From there he befriended Jason Nawty and they both went on to become the face and DJ’s of 12inch Thumpers, writing many more tracks for the label, plus performing sets around the country and overseas, to crowds in excess of 2000 people at renowned events and clubs hosted by Frantic, Sunnyside Up, Camden Palace, Slinky, Heat, The Fridge, Riot, Ministry of Sound and many more.

Mobi also set up his own label in 2000 with Daniel Ro called Peroxide Records, which later became one of the biggest selling labels of 2001 to 2003. This led to bigger and better gigs for Mobi and took them both over to Australia for a 3-week crazy debauchery tour.

Mobi-D has been a big name and presence in the hard dance scene for many years and he is no stranger to a big crowd. He has countless releases and remixes under his belt from back in the day which have featured on many mixed compilations like Lisa Lashes Hard House Euphoria, and Cyberdog to name a few, plus, his music has been played out by some of the biggest names in the hard dance scene over the last 22 years.

Fast forward to 2020 and after a break from producing hard dance, he is back with new material, and now signed to Tidy Trax, Shock Records, Frantic, Defiant, Bring the Noise and others.
A new track “Higher Level” written in collaboration with Jason Nawty will feature on the new Lisa Pin Up Tidy Girls Annual out the end of April 2021.

His DJ’ing style is a mixture of hard and fast infused Hard House and Hard trance, one minute making you wanna stomp your ass off and the next reaching for the sexy laser beams in the sky.
Partnered with a very distinct production background, that’s both refined and cutting edge, there are certainly exciting times ahead for sure.
